MATTEL and LEGO Entering  Children  Music Market

It is reported that the sales of children's music increased by 21% on Youtube. Mattel has entered  an exclusive, multi-year global music licensing agreement with Warner Music Group (“WMG”)’s Arts Music division as the sole distributor of Mattel’s current catalog of more than 1,000 songs from brands including Barbie®, Thomas & Friends®, Hot Wheels®, American Girl®, and Fisher-Price®.

In April, The LEGO Group announced an exclusive global partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music-based entertainment company, that will enable children around the world to explore their creativity through play and  expressing themselves through music.

In May Day holiday, the sales of children's outdoor toys and imported musical instruments toys achieved year-on- year growth

The data of JD.com shows that the online sales in provinces including Henan, Hebei , Anhui is much higher. From the perspective of subdivided categories, the sales of children outdoor toys increased by 210% compared with last month and the sales of imported toy musical instruments reached a year-on-year increase of 63%.

The NPD Group Reports on First Quarter Global Toy Sales

Toy industry sales increased by 4 percent* in the first quarter (Q1) of 2020 (Jan. – March) across the 13 global markets (G13) tracked by The NPD Group, a leading global information company. Australia experienced the highest percentage growth at 11 percent, followed by Germany (+ 8 percent), United States (+ 8 percent), Russia (+6 percent), UK (+2 percent), and Mexico (+1 percent).

Due to the epidemic, the sales of games and puzzles has increased by 44%. Four other categories recorded growth: Outdoor & Sports Toys, Arts & Crafts, Building Sets, and Vehicles.
